Lab-Grown Diamonds Validated as Real Diamonds: USA FTC’s Game-Changing Update

In 2018, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) updated its Jewelry Guides, redefining the classification and marketing of diamonds. Notably, the FTC removed the term "natural" from the definition of a diamond, acknowledging that lab-grown diamonds possess the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as mined diamonds. This change allows lab-grown diamonds to be marketed simply as "diamonds," provided their laboratory origin is clearly disclosed. The revised guidelines also discourage the use of terms like "synthetic," which may mislead consumers into thinking lab-grown diamonds are not real. These updates aim to provide consumers with clearer information, emphasizing that both lab-grown and mined diamonds are genuine.

At Melee Lab, we proudly celebrate these real diamonds for real people. Every purchase includes an IGI Lab Diamond Certificate, ensuring quality and transparency.
